Project Description

Website Redesign for Legal Firm Schroeter Goldmark & Bender

With over 260 trials victories (and counting), the team at SGB works to hold the most powerful companies, people, and government agencies responsible for wrong doings.

Project Objectives

The goal of this redesign was to update the navigation and make the user experience more intuitive. The firm decided they wanted to highlight important practice areas and guide potential clients to find the necessary information and funnel inquiries to the appropriate channel. This is especially important for law firms like SGB who's work covers both a breadth and depth of practice areas.

Website Design for Law Firms

Crafting a website for SGB began with understanding both the culture of their firm and the goals of the redesign. From there, we combine their brand with best practices for law firm websites to create an effective yet unique design.

Previously the website for SGB was not a long form scrolling page. This limited the ability to guide the user through a story down the homepage, which we were able to do with the new design. The design begins with a video of the Puget Sound to show the local commitment of SGB, including the tagline “Law with A Purpose.” From there users are directed with a Call to Action to “Start Your Case Consultation.” Then users follow down the to learn about the committed team at SGB, then their areas, and finally to the practice areas. This list of practice areas shows off the robust set of practice areas of the team at SGB and allows users to go directly to the practice areas. From there we include some social proof that highlights their winning trials and case studies. We then guide the user to “Why SGB” and Testimonials  to add a personal touch to compliment the strong information provided by the case studies. Finally, we include blog and news for updates, as well as a form for users to fill out right away if they feel compelled to start their free consultation.

One of our favorite parts of the site is the robust and flexible lawyer pages. From the overview of the staff pages you’re able to have quick access to contact info on the hover, showing the email and phone number of the lawyer. On the detail pages themselves there is tabbed content so attorneys can organize their profile content however they want. They also have the ability to link to news posts, practice areas of focus, external profile websites (like Avvo) and even videos if they have one.

Specific Pages Highlight SGB’s Uniqueness

The team at SGB works hard to support their community on and off the job. We wanted to highlight this through the Community Page featuring logos of the organizations that they are apart of, volunteer for, and work with.

A large part of the work that SGB is in class action lawsuits against large companies on behalf of the workers and consumers. Since they are often long term cases, we created a Class Action Updates page to give users a place to check in on how the cases are progressing. This includes the note showing the status of the case as well as any notes and updates.

Mobile Responsive Site Design and Development

The old site for SGB was not mobile responsive. In terms of SEO as well as user experience, a non responsive site was not beneficial. We designed and built the website so that it would work well on any type of screen - from a large desktop to a tablet to a phone.
